New in 8.4 - Disbursements included in Ledger Transactions report

Posted on August 31, 2008

The ledger transactions report as well as the similar monthly and yearly transactions reports did not include disbursements.  Disbursements have now been included in those reports.

Also changed is the cashflow report, cashflow graph and income and expense graph.  These reports and graphs now also include disbursement transactions.

One thing to note with all these changes, is that disbursements are not a per-property expense, they are a per-owner expense, and one owner can have multiple properties.  So the disbursement transactions are all listed under the <General> property.

Posted on August 29, 2008
For a while now there has been the ability to add custom fields to properties, tenants and owners.  Now in the coming version 8.4 you will also be able to add custom fields to contractors.

New in 8.4 - Vacant Property Handout report changes

Posted on August 29, 2008
In the upcoming version 8.4 of RentMaster, the vacant property handout report now has a detailed or non-detailed option.  The detailed option will print the address of the property, while the non-detailed will not.  So now you have the choice of whether or not you give your prospective tenants that much information or not.

New in 8.4 - Look ahead typing

Posted on August 27, 2008

In the coming 8.4 version, a few more changes from customer feedback.

The first is with the date combo box.  If the date is set to <None>, and the user types a number, the <none> is taken away ready for typing a date in.  However the first number that is pressed is lost.  Which means if you wanted to type the number 11, you would have to type the number 1 3 times.  You now only have to press the 1 twice, as the first key press not only removes the <none> but it also contributes to the date entry.

The second change is with the standard combo box.  Most of the combo boxes now support look ahead typing.  Look ahead typing is something which is becoming more populate these days, where if you start typing into a combo box, it will find the closest match, and as you keep typing it further refines the search.  This might take a bit of getting used to for some people who are used to the old way of typing only the first letter, but it should make people more productive once they get used to it.

New in 8.4 - Last Disbursment report

Posted on August 16, 2008

In the coming version 8.4 of RentMaster, the existing Last Disbursement report will now have totals for fees and paid amounts.

Also, as a result of customer queries, it will be easier to change the regional settings such as date formats and currency symbols.  This wont affect existng customers.  These settings are all set in the windows Control Panel.

Adding FindARentalHome.com to your web site

Posted on August 14, 2008

This is intended for property managers who have their own web site, or are thinking about getting one.

If you would like to show your vacant properties on your own web site, you can now integrate the FindARentalHome web site inside your own web site, and it if free.  So any one of your properties listed on the FindARentalHome web site will also show on your web site.  This is done using a web site development technique called an iFrame.

To see a sample web site with embedded properties, go to http://www.findarentalhome.com/frames/Embedded.htm

www.FindARentalHome.com has been upgraded

Posted on August 14, 2008

The FindARentalHome.com web site has finally had a minor makeover after about 5 years.

For people who have their own logins, your company name is now shown in a prominant position in the top right corner of the main page.

The colour picker (or color picker for our over-seas friends) has been changed, and actually works now.  So if you want to change the colour of your web site, you can now do so.

Also a few navigations issues have been fixed.

If you have not seen the FindARentalHome.com web site before, go to Sample.FindARentalHome.com to see what you are missing out on.  Then go to http://www.rentmaster.co.nz/products/web.aspx for more details.
